PurpleTear · Friendzoné for iOS
Friendzoné Privacy Policy
Effective date and last updated:
This policy covers Friendzoné (also known as Friendzoned / Friendzone: SMS game), the iOS app with bundle identifier fr.purpletear.friendzone, and the services needed to operate it. It replaces the October 30, 2017 policy for this app. It does not describe the separate Sutoko app, its accounts or subscriptions, or every older installed version or the Android app.
The data controller is Hocine Belbouab, a sole trader operating as PurpleTear, 78, avenue des Champs-Élysées, Bureau 562, 75008 Paris, France. For privacy questions or rights requests, email hbdeveloppeur@gmail.com.
Friendzoné is a fictional, single-player story. There is no player account and no real messaging between users. Your character name, story choices and progress stay on your device. Online purchases and advertising can still involve personal data: we use Apple and RevenueCat for the optional one-time ad-removal purchase, and Google AdMob and its consent service for advertising.
1. Data we process and why
- On-device game data: the character name you choose, current chapter, story choices and progress, music preference and a cached ad-free entitlement are saved locally to run the game and remember your settings. These game saves are not uploaded by the app to PurpleTear or RevenueCat. Device backups are subject to your Apple backup settings. The name prompt is for a fictional character, not account registration.
- Purchases and a pseudonymous user identifier: Apple processes payment for the non-consumable product
fr.purpletear.friendzone.removeads. RevenueCat processes an SDK-generated anonymous installation/customer identifier, purchase receipts or transaction information, product identifiers, purchase dates and entitlement status to validate, provide and restore ad-free access, including previously acquired purchases. It may process app, device and operating-system information and network information needed to operate its service. Purchase reporting and analytics are available in its dashboard. “Anonymous” here means no player login or supplied email, not that the identifier cannot be personal data. We do not send an email, character name or advertising identifier as a RevenueCat customer attribute, and automatic device-identifier collection is disabled in our RevenueCat configuration. Apple handles your payment information; we do not receive your payment card number. - Advertising and consent data: when an ad request is permitted, Google AdMob can process IP addresses and approximate location inferred from them, device or other technical identifiers, app and operating-system information, ad impressions and interactions, and crash, diagnostic and performance data. Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) processes consent choices, interactions with consent forms and technical information needed to decide which form and privacy options apply. The actual processing depends on your region, choices, operating-system permissions and the ads served. Advertising identifiers may be available only where the operating system permits their use. These services support ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention and consent management; advertising partners may also use permitted data for their own advertising purposes. See the provider links below.
- Chapter-ad configuration requests: the app requests the advertising rule for a chapter from
purpletear.net, sending the chapter code, app language and a request timestamp. This is not an upload of your character name, detailed story choices or purchase history. As with any HTTPS connection, the server processes an IP address and standard request information, which can appear in operational/security logs. - Support and privacy requests: if you email us, we process your email address, message and any references you voluntarily provide to respond, troubleshoot and handle your rights. Please do not send payment card details, passwords or unnecessary sensitive information.
The current iOS app does not use Firebase Analytics or Fabric/Crashlytics. It does not request access to your contacts, precise location, camera, microphone or photo library. The fictional conversations are not real user messages. Static links promoting Sutoko open the App Store only when you select them; they do not transmit your game saves to Sutoko.
Legal bases: game operation and purchase validation/restoration are necessary to provide the service you request (performance of a contract). Security, fraud prevention and responding to requests rely on legitimate interests where applicable. Records legally required of us rely on legal obligations. Advertising or identifier access requiring consent is based on your consent, obtained before that processing where required. Refusal does not prevent you from playing. We do not use your character name, support email or purchase history to track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
2. Advertising and consent choices
Friendzoné uses Google UMP to update consent information and display a consent form when required, before starting Google AdMob or requesting an ad. If UMP does not allow ad requests, the game continues without an ad. Where UMP allows a limited or non-personalised ad, refusing personalisation does not necessarily remove all ads or prevent all technical data processing. Some chapter breaks can show an interstitial; rewarded video offers are optional and can be skipped.
Change or withdraw advertising consent: return to the game menu and select “Advertising privacy” (“Confidentialité publicitaire” in French) to reopen Google's privacy-options form whenever UMP requires that option. Change or withdraw your choices there; the resulting choices apply to subsequent processing. This control is region-dependent and may not be shown when Google does not require a privacy-options form. The separate Information → Privacy Policy link is always available, regardless of advertising consent or purchase status. If the advertising control is unavailable or you need help exercising your rights, contact us at the address above.
The current iOS app does not display an Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission prompt. It cannot use an IDFA that iOS makes unavailable. Your system-level tracking permissions can be reviewed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. Those permissions are separate from Google's consent choices. The absence of an ATT prompt or refusal of personalised ads does not establish that no other data is processed by advertising services.
Consent can be withdrawn without affecting the lawfulness of processing performed before withdrawal. Withdrawal is not a retroactive deletion request; use the rights process below to request deletion. The optional one-time “Remove ads” purchase disables Google AdMob ads once the entitlement is verified. It does not disable the purchase-validation service or remove static links promoting Sutoko.
3. Providers, sharing and international transfers
We use the following recipients for the features described above. We do not sell your character name, support email or purchase history as a marketing list.
- Apple: payment, transaction records, purchase validation/restoration and any device backups you enable. Apple retains its own payment and transaction records under its privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: pseudonymous customer identifiers, receipts, transaction history, entitlement status and technical service information for iOS purchases and purchase reporting. See its privacy policy and data processing agreement.
- Google AdMob and UMP, and advertising partners involved in serving an ad: advertising, measurement, fraud prevention and consent management, with the data and choices described above. See Google Mobile Ads SDK data disclosures, Google's consent-management documentation, Google's privacy policy and Google's partner-service information. Where required, the consent form identifies applicable advertising partners and purposes. Some partners may combine permitted data with data from other apps or websites to target or measure advertising, subject to applicable consent and platform restrictions.
- Hosting and support service providers: necessary network/request data to deliver our configuration and policy pages, and messages you send for assistance or rights requests.
Providers acting on our behalf must use personal data for the agreed services, provide protection at least equivalent to that described in this policy and help us handle rights requests, including erasure. Stores and other recipients processing data for their own legal purposes remain responsible for that separate processing. We may also disclose only necessary information to meet a legal obligation or establish or defend a legal claim; this is not permission to share all game or purchase data for unrelated purposes.
Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Depending on the recipient and service, applicable safeguards include adequacy decisions or European Commission standard contractual clauses, as described in their agreements. Contact us for information about the recipients and safeguards applicable to your data. Using a provider does not remove our responsibility for data protection and rights handling.
4. How long data is kept
- Local saves and preferences: kept on your device until reset or removed. “New Game” resets story progress and the character name, not the verified purchase cache or music preference. Deleting the app removes its local container; copies in an Apple backup may remain until managed or deleted using Apple's settings.
- Purchase and entitlement records: kept while needed to validate and restore your non-consumable purchase, which is not a subscription and has no routine expiry. Following an erasure request, we remove personal associations no longer necessary and request applicable erasure from RevenueCat. Limited records may be retained when necessary for a legal obligation or a specific dispute. An accounting document that we are legally required to keep in France is retained for 10 years from the end of the relevant financial year; this does not justify retaining every customer identifier or all technical data for 10 years. Apple keeps its own records under its rules.
- Support and rights correspondence: kept while handling the request; thereafter only information necessary to demonstrate its handling or defend a right is retained for the applicable legal limitation period. Unnecessary information is removed.
- Operational/security logs: retained only as needed to operate and protect the service or investigate an incident, not to maintain a permanent history of your story choices. An incident or legal requirement may justify keeping specific records longer. Ask us for the retention applicable to a particular request.
- Provider records, consent records and backups: Google, RevenueCat, Apple and other recipients have their own retention and deletion schedules according to the service, purpose and legal requirements. Erasure from active records does not necessarily mean immediate erasure from every backup; residual copies must remain protected and not be returned to ordinary use. See their policies above or contact us for help with a specific request. We do not claim that uninstalling the app erases provider-held records.
5. Deletion and your rights
There is no Friendzoné account to delete. To clear story progress and the character name, use New Game (“Recommencer” in French) in the menu. To remove the app's local data, delete the app rather than offloading it. Manage device/cloud backups separately in Apple's settings. Neither step automatically erases transactions or data held by providers.
For access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, data portability where applicable, or help withdrawing consent, email hbdeveloppeur@gmail.com with “Friendzoné privacy request”. Tell us which data or service your request concerns. We may ask for the minimum information needed to locate the relevant record and verify your authority, such as a purchase transaction reference for a purchase-related request. Because the app has no login and RevenueCat uses a pseudonymous identifier, we may need your help to match a request to the right record. Do not send an Apple password, complete payment details or unnecessary identity documents.
We respond to rights requests within one month of receipt. If an extension is permitted for a complex request, we explain the reason and the applicable extension within that first month. We coordinate applicable deletion with providers acting on our behalf and explain any legally justified exceptions. Deleting a purchase/customer association may affect future automatic restoration; we explain the implications before proceeding and do not require you to accept advertising to make a request. Erasure does not refund an Apple purchase; purchase/refund requests can be made through Apple's Report a Problem service.
You may complain to a data-protection authority, including the French CNIL, or the authority where you live or work. Contacting us first is not a condition for exercising that right.
6. Children, security and policy updates
Friendzoné is not intended for children under 13. Its story may have an older App Store age rating; the applicable store rating and local rules on minors' capacity and consent still apply. A store age rating is not proof of consent. Parents or legal representatives may contact us about review or deletion of a child's data where necessary. We do not ask players to send their date of birth or an identity document to play.
Online configuration, purchase and advertising services use HTTPS. We seek to minimise information shared and restrict access to those who need it for the stated purposes. No network or storage system can be guaranteed risk-free.
We update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be communicated appropriately, and new consent will be requested before new processing that requires it. Continued use alone is not treated as consent to unrelated new data processing.
